My Life

A young hearted couple sat on a bench under the shade of a tree.
She turned to him and asked “Do you love me?”
He looked back at her, smiled, and said “I love you like the sun loves the day and like the moon loves tonight.”
She smiled back at him and looked to and asked “Why are you with me?”
He looked at her and said with a reassuring tone “I am with you because you are the reason behind my everything.”
She continued to look and him and smile and said “But why do you love me?”
He looked at her and said “I love you because of who you were, who you became, and who you are now. I love you because I don’t know how not to. You are all that I have ever wanted, everything that my heart ever needed, and everything that my dreams desired.”
She looked at him and asked one last question “Would you be sad if I was gone?”
He looked down towards the ground, paused, then turned back towards her “You are the sun and moon of my life. My love begins with you and ends with you. You are my passion, my heart, my soul, my dreams, my wants. Without you I have and I am nothing. Over the past 60 years you’ve become more than my wife. You have become my life. And as I tell you every year when we sit on our bench, without you I couldn’t make it through another minute.”
She smiled with tears in her eyes, leaned in and put her head on his chest as he put his arm around her. they sat in each others arms under the tree that they had planted 60 years ago.
